In the fifth volume of the Saga , we learn a bit about the earlier years of the conflict between Brzeg and Wieniec. There is no shortage of violence or considerations about the nature of man. The creators show us both good and bad sides of humanity.
Brutality
The events of the Saga take place in a world torn by war. Violence, brutality and murder are commonplace for many. We have seen it in the previous volumes and can still see it in the present one. A brief introduction to the history of the conflict does not explain much. It only shows how the war spread to the next planets until everyone was involved in it. We also see how those at its center want to forget about her – not to interrupt her, but not have to sacrifice everything in her name.
An armed conflict takes its toll. And they are not just soldiers. And some of those who have suffered may want to take revenge. In this way, the spiral of violence only gets in the wind. Living in a world torn by war is not easy. Staying on the sidelines, taking care of yourself is not always possible – and this is the case with the heroes of the series. Of course, their union, which is opposed to the political doctrine of both opposing nations, does not make things easier. Nevertheless, while reading it, it seems that every, even the calmest and best man, can be drawn into the fires of the eternal war.
I write about people everywhere, although there are various intelligent beings in the comic. In fact, however, the creators talk about ourselves. Both robots, inhabitants of Wieniec or Brzeg, as well as all other races, are only portraits of ourselves – with all our disadvantages, but also advantages.
Errors
Characters in the Saga are capable of the greatest rascals, but also of good deeds. Parents’ love for their children, fighting their own prejudices, feeling towards their siblings, sacrifice. We can see all this on the pages of the comic. Some of these behaviors or feelings are not surprising. After all, when reading, we expect that parents can do a lot to defend their child. In other cases, however, good comes from a completely unexpected side.
Everyone makes mistakes – some of the heroes try to do something with them, others are not interested in improving. The authors show how what we do can affect not only us, but also those around us. We can see that sometimes the willingness to help can lead to unnecessary complications or even tragedy. At other times, we bear the price.
Adult only item
Beautiful, sometimes “candy” illustrations do not change the fact that Saga is aimed at an adult audience. In the pages of the fifth volume, we see a lot of violence – both in the graphic and plot layers. There are also topics related to sexuality.
As a whole, this comic looks good. Relevant topics are covered. In Saga , as in life, not everything has to end well – sometimes you have to pay the price of your actions. Although the plot is a bit worse than in the opening of the series, the comic book is really good and it is worth reaching for it.
