The path to being the most powerful wizard!
The gameplay may seem a bit complicated, but after the first game everything is clear. The rules are clearly explained in the manual, so no one should have any difficulty mastering the game.
The object of the game is to collect 13 points, or 16 in a longer game. We get them by buying magic cards using crystals. The catch, however, lies in the randomness, or rather the apparent randomness of the game. To buy a card, you must roll a dice with the number next to the card. In addition, it is possible to reroll the dice using reroll tokens and, using special power cards, flip the dice to the opposite side. Summing it all up, we get a very pleasant and quite strategic game.
The magic is in the details
The game is released in a really beautiful way, even the box itself looks like an old book. The content is impressive too. We have 3 wooden markers: 2 scoring markers and a wizard marker. Each player receives three dice of their color, crystals to buy items, and their own scoring board. In addition, we have cards that are divided into power cards, magic cards and a portal card. Everything is carefully crafted, from the tiny reroll tokens to the location tiles with beautiful castle illustrations. The cards themselves are just as beautiful, and you can look at the art of magical items and allies endlessly to explore all the details. The backs of the cards imitate an old leather book, which fits perfectly into the atmosphere.
Magic Gambling
Needless to say, the game is addictive. From the very beginning, we played the longer version up to 16 points to be able to enjoy the game as long as possible. I often reach for this game if I expect fast, fluid gameplay with a large dose of strategy.
Power card betting can feel like playing in a casino, and the added layers of strategy and anticipation of your opponent’s moves add to the excitement. The game is more geared towards older players due to the large amount of planning involved.
