“Valley of the Gods” is an artistic feast that goes beyond the traditional film image. Lech Majewski’s film will debut on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD soon!
On December 10, Valley of the Gods will debut on Blu-once, DVD and VOD! The story about the gods hidden in the mountains, based on the legend of the Navajo tribe, hypnotizes with photos that the director co-created with Paweł Tybora in Utah, USA, and music composed by Oscar® winner – Jan AP Kaczmarek.
Director Lech Majewski, when asked about the genesis of the film, tells about his journey to the Valley of the Gods, in the southwestern part of Utah:
The location scout with which I traveled through the deserts of America took me to this magical valley full of mysterious rocks. The erosion has hewn them so much that they are shaped like riders on horses, the entire Indian team. There is also a rock that looks like an eagle taking flight, and many gigantic busts in which you can see the features of the Indian chiefs. I remember an episode at a local bar where there were only Coca-Cola and Pepsi cans on the shelves, because prohibition reigns in Navajo. A dozen or so Indians sat at the tables. The entire time we were there, the Indians didn’t say a single word and didn’t move – they froze like rocks in the Valley of the Gods – and that scene stayed with me. I was thinking about their real estate, suspended in time. Why are they petrified? Why didn’t they look at us? I was intrigued by their unavailability. When I started researching their culture, I discovered that they live in an archaic world that we no longer know, because we live in a world highly detached from its roots, now more and more virtual. I went back there a few more times.
The creator invited famous Hollywood actors to cooperate. Among them: John Malkovich, Mary Reilly, Josh Hartnett, Bérénice Marlohe, John Rhys-Davies, Keir Dullea.
Majewski also invited the well-known designer Eve Minge, who, as we know, always takes care of her projects herself.
Description:
In the title Valley of the Gods, three narrative threads intersect, provoking the viewer to make their own interpretations. The first is the archaic legend of the Navajo Indians about gods enclosed in the rocks of the Valley of the Gods, full of rich symbolism and archetypes. The second is the story of the richest man in the world, the mysterious Wes Tauros (John Malkovich), who, hit by a personal tragedy, hides from the world. The third plot is the story of the narrator, John Ecas (Josh Hartnett), a writer who struggles with a traumatic separation from his wife and a creative crisis. At that time, the Tauros company, exploiting uranium ore, takes over the Valley of the Gods, where it plans to dig tunnels in the sacred land. The peace of the Navajo ancestors is broken and the rocks give birth to the avenger. The viewer is left with the questions: How far can you go for love? What secrets does the mythical Navajo land hide?
