This is an excerpt from the developer message :
Our friends at Piktiv have been working hard to make the game look and feel the same regardless of the platform you’re using, though the patch will make some minor changes to the start menu interface to keep things running as smoothly as possible. If you are playing on Steam with other Steam users , the game will continue to function as before (with the new ability to add servers to favorites). If one or more players use a different platform, an join code will be generated which must be used to join the game.
The message also provides more detailed information on the new update:
- Cross-platform play support added
- The save management option has been included in the interface, which will make it easier for players to restore / delete save files
- Minor in-game hosting optimizations
- The “Join the game” tab has been improved. Players can now mark their favorite servers and check if the server is working and if it allows crossplay.
- Players can use the “-crossplay” parameter on dedicated servers to enable crossplay. When this parameter is used, the backend will use Playfab instead of Steamworks (“Join Code” will appear when joining a dedicated crosssplay server. Players can use this code to join. The join code is generated again with each reset.
- The added command “default_old” allows you to play an older version of the game on Steam, in case your server has not been updated yet (Steam may require a restart for the command to work)
The question mark indicates that the server status is unknown, while the red “X” indicates the server is inactive. The “shuffle” icon next to the server status will indicate cross-platform play.
Valheim is available in the Early Access version for personal computers (Steam) for PLN 71.99. The game will also appear on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One in 2023.
