“Vagrant Queen” will not see a second season. According to the latest reports, the series has been canceled. The blame for the closing is lower than expected viewership.
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to inform about it. Vagrant Queen made her debut this year and after just one season she fell under the ax. The SYFY station, for which the production was shot, tried to improve its viewership by moving it from Friday to Thursday, which was more favorable in this respect. Unfortunately it didn’t help. Until the end of the first season, the average number of viewers in the US was at the level of 417,000, with only 131,000 in the 18-49 years old range (the most attractive for advertisers).
A positive for the broadcaster of the series may be the fact that he will not lose too much on this production. Everything was created in cooperation with Blue Ice Pictures, and the costs of the series were divided. For SYFY stations, this type of cooperation is nothing new. A similar strategy was used in the Van Helsing and Wynnony Earp cases .
Vagrant Queen is an adaptation of the comic of the same name published by Vault Comics. The series follows the adventures of Elida, who is in fact the last heir to the interplanetary throne of the kingdom. After the revolution, the monarchy was overthrown, and the main character flees under a changed name from the new government that wants her death.
In Poland, the picture is broadcast by the Sci Fi channel. Will you miss this production?
