On May 26, the live-action version of the cult animation from 1989 – The Little Mermaid – will debut on the big screen. In the latest production trailer, we can see Urszula, played by Melissa McCarthy, for the first time.
The latest Little Mermaid stars : Halle Bailey ( Ariel ), Jonah Hauer-King (Prince Eric), Daveed Diggs (Sebastian), Jacob Tremblay (Florek), Javier Bardem (King Triton) and Melissa McCarthy (Ursula).
The production is directed by Rob Marshall ( Mary Poppins Returns ), with a screenplay by David Magee and Jane Goldman. Songs from the original 1989 animation will be used in the film as seen in the trailer, although Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda have composed some new songs.
