It has been officially announced that Massive Entertainment, part of Ubisoft, will make a game in the Star Wars universe . So far, it is only known that the title will have an open world. Julian Gerighty will be involved in the production as a creative director, and the whole thing will be based on the Snowdrop engine from Massive.
This announcement appears just a few days after Lucasfilm Games is founded. All future games related to Lucasfilm licenses will be released under the aegis of this company. The first title announced as part of the new company is a production about the adventures of Indiana Jones from Bethesda’s MachineGames.
Many people are surely wondering if this is the end of Star Wars from EA. Well no. Responsible for issues related to games and interactive entertainment at Disney, Sean Shoptaw announced further cooperation with electronics, but also stated that there will be room for others at this table.
The president of Ubisoft – Yves Guillemot also spoke about the new cooperation. In an interview with Wired, the French producer did not hide his excitement that Massive could create new adventures, worlds and characters in a world as vast as Star Wars . Guillemot also stated that this is a great opportunity for Ubisoft to start working on a project for Lucasfilm Games.
