This week, Ubisoft shared some new information from Beyond Good and Evil 2 , but for everyone eagerly awaiting the game’s release, this is not one of the good news. The title is in production, but it will not be released for a long time.
In a recent conversation, initiated by the manufacturer’s financial report, Frederick Duguet, Ubisoft’s chief financial officer, admitted that it was still “too early” to share Beyond Good and Evil 2 details , even though the game has been under development for many years. The question was also raised when we will be able to see more materials from the production. To this, Duguet replied as follows:
We’ve made some pretty good progress in Beyond Good and Evil 2, but it’s too early at this stage for me to tell you.
The good side of this situation is undoubtedly the fact that by including Beyond Good and Evil 2 in the financial statements, it was confirmed that the title was not abandoned after such a long time.
The progress of the project seems to be the main starting point in the discussion about the game now, judging by statements from Ubisoft representatives over the last year. In November 2020, Yves Guillemot, the company’s CEO, was also asked about the title. He then said that “production is going well” and welcomed Netflix’s willingness to adapt the series, which began in 2004, in order to soothe worried fans.
It seems like it will still be a long time before we play Beyond Good and Evil 2 , but it must also be admitted that Ubisoft cannot complain about the lack of work on other projects. The production includes, for example, the new Tom Clancy’s X Defiant or Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora , which are to be released next year. And of course Skull & Bones , which seems to be struggling with some problems lately.
