Finally, there is the official announcement of the next installment of the series of games about the brotherhood of assassins. So far, at least some of the earlier leaks seem to be working.

The released trailer does not show the gameplay, but a lot can be deduced from it. According to leaks and graphics from Ubisoft, the game is called Assassin’s Creed Mirage , and its main protagonist will be Basim, known from Valhalla . Here we will see his past, much younger and yet unaware of the connection to the ancient Isu race, version. The main part of the action will take place in Baghdad.

In the material, which lasts almost four minutes, we can see some interesting references to several early installments of the series. Of course, the costumes of Basim and the other Hidden Ones are very similar to the robes worn by Altair (the main character of the first installment). Part of the trailer’s action takes place in a familiar location, Masyaf. The medieval fortress of the Assassins is still under construction here, which makes sense considering the several hundred years difference between the time of the events of both games. We can also see an interesting reference to the Assassin’s Creed II trailer . In both videos, the protagonists stand on a high edge and jump down, performing the so-called “Superhero landing”. More references and easter eggs will probably be caught by fans in the coming days.

So far, the recent leaks seem to be checking. Time will tell if we will actually get back the basics on which Ubisoft built the popularity of the series. Assassin’s Creed Mirage has so far only been announced for next year. According to unconfirmed information, the title is expected to go on sale in spring.
