The first word has been said about the next Star Wars game . Apparently it’s going to be a massive project. On January 13, 2021, Ubisoft along with studio Massive Entertainment ( The Division and the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora ) announced a new, as yet untitled Star Wars game . Almost nothing is known about the alleged project, except that the engine by Massive Entertainment – Snowdrop – will be used. The project is led by Julian Gerighty, creative director previously responsible for, among others, behind The Division 2 and The Crew . He was the one who shared the latest news.
Unfortunately, the information is imprecise and does not convey much. On Twitter, Gerighty tweeted that “2023 is going to be huge for us”, referring to himself and Massive Entertainment.
The Star Wars galaxy is an incredible source of motivation for our teams to innovate and push the boundaries of our medium. Creating new worlds, characters, and stories that will become a permanent part of Star Wars is an incredible opportunity for us, and we’re thrilled that our studio Ubisoft Massive is working closely with Lucasfilm Games to create a unique Star Wars adventure that will be unlike anything else. what was created earlier.
– said the head of Ubisoft , Yves Guillemot, at the time of the announcement of the game.
To sum up: we know that the game will be built on the Snowdrop engine, which in turn is developed by Massive Entertainment. That’s enough of the specifics for now. Admittedly, there were several PR comments about the project (e.g. the above quote), but none of them revealed more details. Let’s remember, however, that 2023 has only just begun. In the coming months, we should definitely expect more news about the new Star Wars game .
