Twilight series in production from Lionsgate Television

Lionsgate is working on a Twilight revival . A series has been confirmed, which means the series will be brought to the small screen!

Based on the best-selling book series by Stephenie Meyer, the series is still in the early stages of development, but a new report suggests that Lionsgate is taking the launch much more seriously than it did a decade ago, when rumors first surfaced. The label hopes to develop the format itself and bring a showrunner on board before looking for a network or distributor so they can maximize their control over the final product.

We can read in The Hollywood Reporter that Meyer is “supposed to be involved in a television adaptation.” Wyck Godfrey and former Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairman Erik Feig will be on board as executive producers.

In 2013, shortly after the end of the  Twilight film series , RiffTrax attempted to license the first film to make the riff live in theaters. It was rejected.

They understood what we wanted to do and did not oppose the idea. They just felt that the Twilight series was still a very important project for them, i.e. something that would still bring them millions of dollars more, and it didn’t make sense to let a few guys tell jokes about it. – at least not this summer.

At the time, Meyer seemed to be done with the franchise (she even said so), but since then she’s done some fun  Twilight side projects, including with gender change.

As for the movies themselves, they may have had average reviews, but they had huge returns. They also helped to achieve world fame for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

The series fits into several different trends. Last week, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that the  Harry Potter series , which was filming at the same time as Twilight , will be coming to their newly rechristened Max service in the near future. Lionsgate themselves recently brought back  Party Down and announced a  Spartacus revival  and are reportedly considering a sequel to  Weeds .

The Twilight saga movies are now available on Peacock.
