Avengers! Can’t assemble…
As you can guess from the title itself, the novel Avengers. Everyone wants to rule the worldtells about the adventures of the famous Avengers created by the Marvel publishing house. This time they have quite a big problem. Well, five different enemies attacked simultaneously. They don’t work together, but superheroes have to deal with them somehow. Captain America fights against Hydra who wants to subjugate humanity. Hawkeye and Black Widow end up in Savage Land, where AIM tries to contaminate their drinking water supply with a mind-altering formulation. Iron Man has to face Ultron, who wants to take over Earth’s technology. Hulk tries to deal with High Evolutionary, who plans to make people slaves. In turn, Thor and Scarlet Witch are opposed to Dormammu himself, who wants what every villain does – to take over the world. And how to deal with so many problems at once?
Six stories
Author of The Avengers. All they want to rule the world is British author Dan Abnett. This creator knows the world of comics perfectly, because he worked for both DC (he invented the adventures of Batman , Superman or Aquaman ) and Marvel ( Guardians of the Galaxy , War of Kings , Punisher , Nova , Scarlet Witch ). He also has a lot of experience in writing books. He has produced over a dozen stories set in the world of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000. Therefore, it could be expected that the reader will find a really good product. And so it happened. Of course, no one expected an outstanding work, worth nominating for literary awards, but fast action and an interesting adventure with the participation of superheroes. And in fact, we do not lack these elements. Almost from the first page we get a story full of scenes of fights and chases as well as plotting intrigues, and the pace does not slow down for a moment. Thus, from the very beginning, we enter the world of the Avengers and accompany them to the end. It is impossible not to feel a thrill here or not to cheer on the famous heroes in their struggle with evil. It is worth adding that the Avengersis divided into six different stories. In each of them a different member of the team is fighting. The author jumps between the stories, giving them subsequent chapters. And so the first of them is devoted to Captain America, the second to Hawkeye and Black Widow, the third to Iron Man, etc. Thanks to keeping the same order, you can easily return to Steve Rogers, as his adventures will be continued in chapter seven and fourteen.
Something for fans
It is difficult to judge the Avengers unequivocally . Everyone wants to rule the world. As a comic book fan, I am delighted with this item. However, those less associated with Marvel may have a different opinion. Most of all, the position is overloaded with fights. This way of conducting the plot, where some descriptions of the blows will be repeated, can seem quite boring. Additionally, we are dealing here with a comic narrative. Most of the dialogues take place during the clashes, and the words are intertwined with successive blows. I can imagine what it would look like in the pages of the notebook, but not everyone will get this message. Nevertheless, the book itself reads very quickly. Lots of emotions, lots of twists and interesting intrigues will make it hard to break away from the adventures of the Avengers. Therefore, the overall position should be considered good and worth recommending.
