On the occasion of the first edition of the cult fantasy piece The Hobbit – JRR Tolkien, we have prepared for you casting proposals and an overview of the characters that should appear in the upcoming Amazon series.
Ereinion Gil-Galad
The upcoming Amazon series cannot miss (in my opinion) the last High King of the Noldor in Exile. This figure is extremely interesting, despite the relatively small number of sources. He resisted Sauron during the Dark Years and led the Last Alliance troops to victory at Amon Amarth. From the beginning he did not trust Annatar, who turned out to be Sauron. Fingon’s son or, according to later versions, Orodreth (I have even accepted this change recently). The actor I would cast in this role is Liam Neeson.
Aldarion
As we don’t know what era the show will take place in, it would be nice to see Numenor in bloom. And since Elenna under the star of Earendil, it is worth introducing viewers to the figure of Aldarion – one of the greatest kings of Numenor. His story is one of the most interesting stories from the Second Age. I would see Henry Cavill as Meneldur’s son.
Erendis
Aldarion’s wife, Erendis, cannot be absent. Their relationship, mutual disagreements, quarrels and final separation are a great canvas for several episodes of the series. I would see Rachel McAdams in that role.
Celebrimbor
The Second Age is the period of the Elven War against Sauron and the forging of the Rings of Power. Their creator was a certain Celebrimbor – grandson of the great Fëanor and leader of Gawith-i-Mirdain. I would like to see the creation of the Rings and the death of the greatest blacksmith of the Second Age. I would love to see Mark Gatiss as the creator of Elendilmir and Elessar.
Narew
Since Celebrimbor, the second famous blacksmith of that time must also be present. Narew, because we are talking about him, is the creator of the West Gate of Moria and a personal friend of Celebrimbor. It would be nice to see the moment when they both create and finish the door to the greatest of the kingdoms, House Durin. I would see Kristofer Hivju in that role.
