The anime will premiere on TV Tokyo and its subsidiaries in July. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the manga, on May 13, the bookstore will receive a re-edition with the first 3 volumes with new illustrations by Ikumi.
Tokyo Mew Mew is a mahō-shōjo manga series written by Reiko Yoshida and drawn by Mia Ikumi. The manga was published in Nakayoshi magazine in 2000-2003. There was also a two-volume continuation Tokyo Mew Mew à la Mode , for which Mia Ikumi both made drawings and wrote the script. The series also includes chapters The adventures of mini Mew Mew and The Black Cat from Tokyo .
The plot focuses on the adventures of five girls, whose genes have been linked to the genes of five endangered species of animals: the Iriomote wild cat (Ichigo Momomiya), the white-throated porpoise (Minto Aizawa), the black porpoise (Retasu Midorikawa), and the lion marmoset (Purin Fon) and the gray wolf (Zakuro Fujiwara).
