An unearthly adventure
Buzz Lightyear is a story focusing on one of the main characters of the cult Toy Story . It presents the fate of a brave astronaut that led to the creation of a toy inspired by himself. Just like the first time, the second time too – it’s impossible not to cheer on Buzz. Moreover, the message of the animation may be very unclear at first, as Buzz himself progresses against him throughout much of the film. This gives the viewer time to think about the theme for himself.
In addition, there are a lot of jokes in the animation that are not simple and aimed only at the youngest. Some of them will surely be able to bring a smile to the face of an adult viewer.
Kotex and others
Fortunately, Buzz Lightyear doesn’t have to deal with problems alone, even if he really wants to. He is accompanied by quite a crazy entourage, but also by Kotex, a robot-cat who has certainly managed to win the hearts of younger viewers. Even though the astronaut character itself is interesting and well-written, the whole background is also composed of inspiring or funny characters themselves. Thanks to this, the second approach to animation is as pleasant as the first.
Disney and Pixar did a really good job
In this regard, it is worth paying attention to the aesthetics of production. The graphics, which are a combination of the style of both of the above-mentioned creators, are impressive. Not to mention the Buzz character design itself as it looks fantastic – very much like his Toy Story toy yet alive.
Unearthly DVD release
I must admit that this is one of the nicer DVDs that I have got my hands on. The cover features a lovely artwork with Buzz holding Kotex in his arms. In the box there is one plate, also aesthetically made. What’s on it? Apart from the animation itself, there is only one addition, unfortunately, which are the comments of the creators.
The DVD version offers Polish, English, Danish and Norwegian dubbing. Additionally, the film can be watched with Polish, Danish, Norwegian and English (for the deaf) subtitles. Many a toddler would be pleased with such a gift!
The Cosmic Ranger continues to impress
The creators of Buzz Lightyear had a difficult task from the beginning – to match the cult animation Toy Story , which is still loved by both younger and older viewers who grew up on it. It’s hard to compete with such a popular title, but in my opinion the adventures of the astronaut himself are on a similar level. The visual aspect alone is reason enough to get interested in this animation, and the DVD release is definitely the right way to return to it.
