The second part of the adaptation of Stephen King's best-selling novel is now on optical media thanks to the Galapagos publishing house.
To: Chapter 2 is a continuation of the terrifying story started in the previous production. The film, directed by Andy Muschietti, starring Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy and Bill Hader, is now available on 4K UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD.
The official production description is as follows:
The demonic clown known from the movie It Returns and Kills Again. When news of this reaches Mike Hanlon ( Isaiah Mustafa ), one of the Suckers Club , he summons his old colleagues to keep the promise they made several years earlier – if Pennywise returns, they will face him again. Most of them have vague memories of dramatic childhood events. The exception is Stanley Uris ( Andy Bean ), who takes his own life after Mike’s call. The others, i.e. Bill Denbrough ( James McAvoy ), Ben Hanscom ( Jay Ryan ), Beverly Marsh ( Jessica Chastain ), Richie Tozier ( Bill Hader) and Eddie Kaspbrak ( James Ransone ) return to Derry, where they prepare for another fight with Pennywis. They do not know that their opponent will be not only the clown, but also their former tormentor Henry Bowers ( Teach Grant ), who with Pennywise’s help escaped from a mental hospital and is ready to do anything to avenge the humiliation he believes he suffered years ago from the “Club of Suckers”.
The director Andy Muschietti spoke about the need to divide the film into two parts:
From the very beginning, I planned to tell the story invented by Stephen King in two parts. There was no other option. The first film ends with the promise of the return of both Pennywise and the Suckers Club. So it was imperative to shoot the sequel. Besides, without her, this story is not complete
The team behind To: Chapter 2 realized not only the benefits but also the problems associated with such an adaptation model. Producer Barbara Muschietti says:
Stephen King’s novel is over 1,100 pages long, and the first film is about the events of the first 300 . From the very beginning, we were aware that “To: Chapter 2” would be a much more difficult film than the first part. With more heroes who additionally appear as both children and adults. These movie is bigger in every sense. It is deeper, more serious and more terrifying
The DVD release of the film has been enriched with a special expansion In Search of the Lights of Death. In turn, the director’s optional commentary was included on the blu-ray discs.
