“Time for the Mayas” – review of the book “Messenger of the storm”

The Storm Messenger is another novel coming under the character Rick Riordan presents . Author JD Cervantes takes the reader into the world of Mayan beliefs.

 

 

 

 

The volcano behind the house

I know he spends most of his time exploring the volcano behind his house. This allows him to distance himself from the mockery and laughter of his peers. The boy is limping, which means that he has to move with a cane. The rhythm of his day, however, is soon disrupted when a plane crashes in a volcano crater called The Beast. There is also a mysterious girl revealing secrets to the protagonist. It turns out that the object of his research is the prison of Ah Puch – the god of death of the Maya – and their fates are closely related. The hero has to come to terms with the fact that there are characters that he previously knew only from stories.

A model youth club

In the Messenger of the Stormwe will find all the ingredients of a good youth novel. Interesting heroes, rushing action, fight scenes and humor. In addition, we get to know many characters of gods and monsters. The main character made the biggest impression on me. Znae acts exactly as befits a teenage hero. He is extremely emotional, the energy even bursts him from the inside. He also struggles with his own complexes and the fact that he is responsible for saving the world. On the way to achieving the goal, he makes mistakes and learns from them in order to be able to successfully complete his mission. We are not dealing here with the creation of a great hero saving the world without major problems. Znae often feels fear and doubts, but is determined to fight to the end. The boy is not, however, the only character worth mentioning. A girl named Brooks seems to be one of the most stubborn teenagers of all time, with many secrets hidden. The main character’s uncle, as a fan of wrestling, is always ready to fight. No matter who or what. The characters of the gods give the novel colors and are a nice change from the much more popular Greek deities.  Summary

The Storm Messenger , apart from being a book with interesting heroes and fast-paced action, allows you to get acquainted with the Mayan mythology a bit more. The novel is captivating from the very beginning, it can sometimes make you smile. Although it is mainly aimed at younger readers, there is something for everyone. I am already waiting for the premiere of the next volumes.
