The actor who was supposed to play the role of Eskel in the second season of The Witcher has just announced his resignation from the production. Who will replace him?

Rasmussen explained that his withdrawal from the show was related to schedule delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He says about it in an official statement on his Instagram, in which he thanks for the opportunity received and all words of support from fans. Originally, he was supposed to play Eskel, one of the witchers living in Kaer Morhen, and a friend of Geralt (Henry Cavill).

Netflix has already revealed who is to replace it. We will officially see Basil Eidenbenz in the role of Eskel. Although the actor’s career is just beginning, participation in The Witcher will be a huge step forward for him. Previously, he could be seen in movies such as Wiktoria (Lohlein) and Another Mother’s Son(Freidrich) He’s not a completely new cast member, though. He had appeared on the set before, having to play the role of another witcher who did not originally appear in books. During the shooting, he probably made enough of an impression on the creators of the series to see the next Eskel in it. In support of their decision, Rasmussen shared information about Eidenbenz’s new role, asking fans for the same amount of support for the young actor that he himself received.
