Kevin Feige comments on Chris Evans’ alleged return as Captain America in future Marvel productions. The MCU is so mysterious that the actors themselves follow their profile on social media.
Earlier this year, information about Chris Evans’ alleged return as Captain America was made public. Biggest fans were thrilled to see their favorite super hero on the screen again, but Steve Rogers handing over the shield to Sam Wilson was the end of Captain America. The initial report suggested that Evans was in the process of negotiating a return to the MCU, but that there would be another standalone movie about the Perfect Soldier. It was assumed that Captain America’s version would be a supporting character in other productions, such as Robert Downey Jr. in Spider-Man: Homecoming .
Kevin Feige (president of Marvel Studios) tries to be secretive about his productions (which he does incredibly well), but in this situation he spoke out and denied rumors of Steve Rogers return as Captain America. During a conversation with EW about The Falcon and the Winter Soldier , Feige closed the topic, definitively saying that Evans would not come back to that character. It is not yet known if the retired version of Steve Rogers will make a cameo appearance in the new Marvel production, but that is a completely different situation. In addition to talking to Feige about the Captain’s return, EW also asked the star of the new series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier – Anthony Mackie about his thoughts on the matter.
I was actually fishing [when the report came out]. When I went back for the prawns, the guy in the dock said, “Hey, man! Have you seen that shit ?! ” I’ve been going to the same guy for bait for 20 years, and now suddenly he’s a fan. He had no idea who I was. Now he is a fan. Marvel is so secretive and so ridiculous about what we know and what we don’t. I have no idea. The guy on the dock selling me shrimp knows more about what’s going on in Marvel than I do.
This is not the first time that Marvel’s actors learn about their productions from the Internet. Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker, found out that he would play Spider-Man from an announcement by the MCU on their official profile.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is scheduled to premiere on March 19, 2021 and will run for six episodes until April 23, 2021.
