The Disney + platform has made its home in Poland for good, and fans of comic books, fans of Star Wars and action movies from years ago, parents of young children found something for themselves there. Our editorial office also reached for the platform’s offer. What have we found interesting on it so far?
Disney + is not only a treasure trove of animated classics we grew up with, but also an ever-expanding range of new productions – not only from fantasy and science fiction genres, from the universes of Star Wars , MCU or Predator. You will find here, for example, the documentary series Get Back about the last album of The Beatles, the MASH series , which years ago you probably watched occasionally with your parents, the great crime comedy Crimes in the Neighborhood or the biographical miniseries Pistol about the career of the punk group Sex Pistols (in the cast you will see, among others, Arya Stark aka Maisie Williams in a cool hairstyle).
But what apart from these productions? What treasures in your favorite genres does the platform offer? On the next pages you can read about the proposals from our editorial office.
Y: The last man
Original Disney + series based on DC comics (formerly on the Vertigo subdivision)? It could be successful, although the series itself does not impress with the form of adaptation. The story of the last man on Earth who survived the mysterious plague seems interesting (it smells slightly sexmission here), but the main character himself is a groaning, lazy boy.
At the same time, we get a really interesting world depicted that comes out of the frames and wobbles in its foundations, plus we have great brutality everywhere and blood is pouring from all holes. The effects of an undifferentiated society become evident: the workforce responsible for maintaining power, the supply chains in motion are dominated by men, and they stand still. The Republican government is wiped off the face of the earth, and the course of action for the survivors is shown by Democratic Congresswoman Jennifer Brown, played by Diane Lane.
Well, as I mentioned, we sometimes have a problem with transforming the tension of the comic book into the screen one, the main character cannot convey the emotions of the original, but it’s worth giving this series a small chance, especially since it’s only one season, and there will be no more! – Bartosz Stuła

To tell you the truth, I didn’t thoroughly browse the Disney + platform offer before it appeared in Poland. I knew what news from the world of Marvel and Star Wars appear on it and that’s about it. I expected all the Walt Disney Company movies and series to be there. That’s why I was surprised when I found one of my favorite childhood series, the X -Files ! And that’s all seasons! And although I knew that 20th Century Fox was bought by Mickey Mouse, I did not connect the facts at all.
Maybe because Disney reminds me more of animations and family productions, and Agents Mulder and Scully do not exactly fit into this description. Anyway, my joy was tremendous. Back in the day, when the series was still on TV, it was hard to watch all the episodes in the right order. Now, years later, I can finally watch the whole thing and see how much I missed! – Piotr Markiewicz
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
A mysterious estate straight from a horror movie, crazy science experiments and newcomers from another planet, all sprinkled with instantly catchy songs. In short: Rocky Horror! For decades now, this cult musical has had a dedicated (and ever-growing) fanbase, inspiring artists, helping people find friends, and simply having a lot of fun. It’s good to have him on hand now and come back to the unforgettable creations of Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon or Patricia Quinn. – Karolina Małas
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer
Another discovery, and also a surprise for me, was that you can watch the series Buffy: The Vampire Slayer on Disney + . I also watched this production in my youth and remembered it with nostalgia. Unfortunately, in times when there was no access to online episodes and streaming platforms, episodes were watched differently, often not in sequence, because sometimes TV missed something, and again we had to go somewhere without recording on a VHS cassette.
On the other hand, in the era when new titles appear every now and then, somehow it’s hard to come back to the past and catch up. But now it has become easier. And although Buffy has certainly aged worse than Z-X -Files , it is due to sentiment and a slight grain of salt and the awareness that this title from 25 years ago (!) Can be enjoyed with it. – Piotr Markiewicz
Documentaries
I know that Disney is a media monster, a real devourer of franchises that we feed all the time and sometimes without awareness. But as a person in love with everything behind the scenes of film production, I swallow all the documents Disney + has to offer without blinking. Documents about the Star Wars universe , the creation of Pixar or the story of Howard Ashaman – a talented Baltimore composer who gave the world Poor Unfotunate Souls , Prince Ali or Be Our Guest – I’ll be watching them all! – Karolina Małas
Disney animations
Disney + allowed me to catch up on animations I didn’t get to see or I was too old for when they were broadcast on TV. During the first few days of the platform (in our country) with the kids we saw brilliant and hilarious Lilo and Stitch, I “infected” my children with love for Atlantis and Mulan and we made up for the phenomenal It’s nie wypanda and Our magic Encant o. On the way we “passed” all available series with Spider-Man, but for several days on the screen of our TV reigns Phineas and Ferb , who delighted our whole family with panache, sense of humor and references to pop culture. It’s a pity that we are only now familiar with these titles.
We’ve seen quite a bit, and the Disney animated library seems to be endless, but I’ll probably see Bambi , The Little Mermaid, My Brother Bear , and some newer Pixar animations anytime soon. All this means that our family’s vacation is like Disney +. – Mateusz Michałek
Marvel Legends
I fell in love with Marvel back in the days when cartoons with superheroes from this universe were on TV. Later I also reached for comic books published by TM-Semic. My love for this world has remained with me to this day. So I follow all the movies and series from the MCU stable on an ongoing basis, enjoying even those slightly inferior productions. I used Disney + primarily to be able to return to the titles and watch new products, which have already been announced quite a lot.
Despite all the interest, I missed the Marvel Legends somewhere . The series currently consists of 21 episodes, lasting a few minutes and telling about individual characters and objects, including Black Widow, Winter Soldier or Tesseract. It is in the form of a document and complements our knowledge. This is a very interesting position for both fans and people a little less interested in Marvel. – Piotr Markiewicz
A horror film by Ryan Murphy
All Ryan Murphy’s signature productions are now in one place. There are ten seasons of “American Horror Story” and the anthology “American Horror Stories” on the platform. Anyone can now go back to their favorite scary stories – witches in New Orleans, a circus in 1950s America, a spooky hotel or a mental hospital.
Ryan Murphy has an undeniable talent for telling stylized stories, which when combined with a horror movie gives an original combination. It may not appeal to all fans of classic horror films, but those who love visual glamor that rubs against the camp will surely appreciate the work of Murphy, his crew and the wonderful cast that returns every season. Those who have not yet had the opportunity to learn about his world should take advantage of it. Not only are the plots (in which Murphy was inspired by many true stories) are encouraging, but also Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Sarah Paulson in many great outfits. – Karolina Małas
