Mr. Silence has definitely a thankless job. Instead of – to the delight of the audience – playing his electric banjo, he becomes the executioner with the instrument. Get to know its history!
A hero or a villain?
Mr. _ Silence takes us to the universe of the well-known comic Bajabongo . Its title character is a man whose inherent attribute is an electric banjo. It is with his help that pierces the all-encompassing silence and kills the listeners of the music he plays. In this way, he carries out death sentences on convicts, fights monsters that plague people or helps his superiors when the city is attacked by enemies. But what happens when the people themselves start a revolt against the government? Mr. Silence will certainly have to make a very difficult decision.
Be quiet!
The author of the comic book Mr. SilenceMarek Turek comes from Zabrze. He is responsible for both the plot and the graphic design of the notebook. The album itself has been divided into six short stories. Each of them is quite macabre. The main character’s electric banjo kills in an extremely cruel and bloody way. The characters themselves are, in turn, quite mysterious and grotesque, while the atmosphere is dense and gloomy. The creator decided not to add any colors except black and white. Moreover, the story is silent and only the notes appear when someone starts to play. Not only Mr. The Silence has an instrument. Apparently, no one else is allowed to break the silence, because for that he will face the highest penalty. It should also be mentioned that due to such treatments, some fragments require a careful analysis of the recipient and his own interpretation of what is currently happening in subsequent frames. So when watching, we need to focus and spend some time on this activity. Otherwise, we may not fully understand what is happening in the story or appreciate its message.
Check it out for yourself
Mr. Silence is certainly an extremely interesting item and worth getting acquainted with. Dark and at times a bit abstract. Personally, it reminds me of a TV series in which short animated films entitled Little Thing were screened , and. It was also often bloody there, and the episodes carried a deeper message. This is also the case with this comic. Let’s add an interesting line and slightly scary characters. Each of them should take a few moments before we move on to the next pages. Will the story appeal to everyone? Probably not. Some will probably not like the graphics, others will find that a silent comic is not what they are looking for. Also, the subsequent stories, which end each time with a greater or lesser slaughter, may not seem interesting. However, Marek Turk’s work intrigued me and after reading it for the first time, I returned to it to catch all the nuances that might have eluded me earlier. I recommend to everyone. Get to know the guy with the electric banjo and see if his adventures will come to you.
