Hasbro collaborates with Paramount Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer on a feature film based on Beyblade, the popular toy line that has sold hundreds of millions of units worldwide!
The first Beyblade toy sets were first released in Japan in 1999. They have since been regionalized and sold worldwide. Television and comic adaptations of the gameplay have also emerged on the wave of popularity, generally revolving around a tournament of champions in the style of Mortal Kombat or Real Steel . While the details of the film have not yet been revealed, it seems likely that it will go in the same direction.
There are different types of Beyblades. However, they are all fired from a launcher into a small tub that serves as the arena. The discs collide in it, and the one that keeps spinning longer and not toppling over wins. The duels in the famous anime Beyblade from 2001 also take place on this principle, but in order to make the plot more attractive, the beast’s powers have been added, which also fight with each other.
Neil Widener and Gavin James will write the screenplay for the film. At the moment, it is not known who will be the director. It is unlikely that the James / Widener script will use characters known from anime, manga or comic adaptations, as the producers do not currently have the rights to them. It is also worth adding that the relationship between Hasbro and Paramount so far has been very successful, especially considering the financial success of the Transformers or GI Joe series.
