Playing board games with children is a difficult task, because you need to choose a title with sufficiently simple rules, engaging and providing emotions. In the case of the novelties from the Rebel publishing house, all these criteria have been met with a vengeance, because in addition we get a beautiful and solid edition that can survive multiple games.
Well made game
The Plucked Chickens set consists of a set of 24 eggs with 12 drawings on them (2 of each), 12 octagonal tiles (they also have egg patterns), 4 wooden hen figures with holes in the backs and 4 feathers to match the tails . The game is very durable – all elements are thick and do not bend in your hands. The pawns in the form of taps are literally disarming – they are large, colorful and very comfortable for small hands. Graphically, this is also a publication aimed at the youngest – the drawings are funny, colorful and very fairytale-like. The whole thing just looks great.
I have a feather, you have a feather, but that can change
The rules of the game are based, on the one hand, on memory, on the other hand, they require acquiring loot, i.e. the mentioned feathers from opponents’ rumps. During the preparation for the competition, the octagons are laid out so that what is drawn on them is not visible, and an oval shape of eggs is arranged around them, because the pawns will move on them. To move along our route, we need to reveal the tile with the same drawing that is in front of our hen (on the egg). If we succeed, we move the bird and try again, and if not – the move goes to the opponent. When we reach the competitor’s pet and we manage to jump over it, we take its feather and run after the next one.
Co-co-comic!
The game has been designed for 2 to 4 people and is suitable for playing with children from the age of four. The gameplay is not the longest, because the location of the twelve patterns can be remembered quite quickly. However, this is not a downside, because for children, this is the perfect amount of time when they are focused. The fun is accompanied by good emotions, unless we play with a person who has a better memory than us – then the scales of victory quickly tip to the opponent’s side. However, it is definitely a title for a family afternoon.
Okay, not just on Easter
Plucked Chickens gets high marks from me because it’s a well-crafted title with a well-targeted audience. This game is fun to spend time with, so all I can do is recommend it.
