CD Projekt Red is working on several new projects related to The Witcher , including a co-op game from developer The Molasses Flood. Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the mysterious Project Sirius so far, and development seems to be in a bit of a bind. Reds’ regulatory announcement published today informs that the company is currently creating a write-down on the value of work on the game .
The reason for the decision is the results of the evaluation of the scope and commercial potential of the Sirius Project in its original formula and the ongoing work on defining the new project framework.

The use of the phrase ‘new framework’ suggests that the project can be reset and started again. This is, of course, the worst-case scenario and it’s possible that it’s just some elements of the game that need reworking. The last paragraph of the report is so far open to interpretation and it’s just hard to determine anything until CD Projekt Red itself provides more specific information. Regardless of the details of the situation, it seems that there is nothing to expect a new Witcher game in the near future. As a consolation, there is still the recently refreshed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt .
The Witcher 3 is widely regarded as one of the best games of all time, so CD Projekt has set a high bar for itself when it comes to future projects from the universe. Let’s hope that the previously mentioned ‘new framework’ for Project Sirius will just be better; we must mention the very poor launch of Cyberpunk 2077 , which resulted from pressing deadlines. So it won’t hurt to extend the current project so that it’s just finished and doesn’t fail at launch. The company sees clear ‘commercial potential’ in the game and wants to make sure it is carefully polished.
