During a recent conversation with Yahoo News , The Witcher executive producer Tomek Baginski revealed that Liam Hemsworth’s introduction as Geralt was partly taken from the books.
We have a very, very good plan to introduce a new version of Geralt and our new vision for the character that Liam will play. I won’t go into details because that would be a huge spoiler, but it’s also very, very close to the ideas that run deep into the books, especially the fifth book.
Bagiński was referring to the final volume of The Witcher book series , which describes Ciri’s journey through various alternate dimensions, including one containing the castle of Camelot from Arthurian mythology. In the books, it is Ciri who transports both Geralt and Yennefer to another world after the White Wolf is seriously injured in a riot, and the fate of both characters remains unknown. Some fans speculate that Ciri will somehow take Henry Cavill’s Geralt to another world, while the witcher from another dimension (Hemsworth) will come from another dimension.
In the second season, much attention was paid to introducing the concept of the multiverse into the world of Netflix’s The Witcher , where various beings such as humans, dwarves and monsters appeared after an event called the Conjunction of the Spheres. Although the Continent originally belonged to the elves, humans quickly became the dominant power, resulting in oppression and persecution of the elves. While it probably wasn’t intended to mitigate the lead actor change, introducing such a concept now could prove useful as the show prepares for a key cast change.
Many fans believe Cavill was the show’s greatest asset, and the actor’s departure draws a bleak future for The Witcher . It’s also been said that while Cavill shines (or rather oozes darkness) on screen, the pacing, effects, and performance of most of the cast suffers. So what will happen to The Witcher when the characteristic medallion is worn by Liam Hemsworth? This will have to wait, although the forecasts are currently mostly negative.
