We know that the second season of “The Witcher” is associated with many changes in the plot, costumes and props. Does this mean, however, that Geralt will sit on the back of the new Roach?
The break in the recordings caused by a viral threat did not prevent the Witcher’s team from returning to work quickly. Ever since shooting restarted, the set in Frensham Little Pond has been bustling with life , with the sequences shot there engaging most of the main cast and heralding scenes of great importance to the plot of the coming season. Life, however, is not the only pulse we hear from this place. Henry Cavill (Geralt) was spotted on the horse’s back, but it is not the horse we remember from the first season.
Book fans know that Geralt rode more than one horse during the plot, calling everyone by the name Roach.
– Did you have a horse in your life that was not called Roach?
No, replied the witcher after a moment’s reflection. – I did not have.(“Baptism of Fire”)
It is worth noting, however, that the coat of the new horse is black, while the White Wolf usually chose bay or chestnut mares. This may, of course, mean that the horse is not a new Roach, but only a temporary means of transport, which the witcher had to decide on in connection with e.g. danger or the need to travel fast. However, Zeus, who played Roach in the first season, was recently seen on set while the crew was washing his fake blood off him. This may mean that Geralt will have to say goodbye to his old friend.
The sequence shot in Frensham Little Pond promises to be a complex and, above all, extremely important. From the photos taken in this location in the last days, we know that there will be, among others, Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), Ciri (Freya Allan) or Istredd (Royce Pierreson). The photo gallery can be supplemented with the latest ones, indicating, among others, for scenes shot at night.
The second season of The Witcher will appear in 2021, while Netflix treats us with additional materials, such as Halloween Monster Mash or a new Christmas video, perhaps announcing some special Christmas gift for fans .
