The makers of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Gun Interactive, have finally revealed the release date for the game based on the acclaimed horror franchise of the same name, set to be released on August 18, 2023.

Sumo Nottingham , confirmed not only the release date of the game, but also the date of the first tech test, which will finally let people get acquainted with the storyline . It will take place on May 25, which still gives us little time to try the game, although at least we have a moment to reveal more features and details until then.

The release dates and the first tech test were confirmed in a trailer shared with IGN. Several scenes from the gameplay formed the background of the trailer. The information people were waiting for concerned the release date of the game. It’s been known for some time that technical tests are coming, so setting a deadline was an added bonus.

Watching the trailer, you will see some familiar characters from the Sawyer family. Two new characters, Sissy and Johnny, were created for  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to give players additional options to choose from. The game uses an unusual 3v4 format where three people play as killers and four as victims, so it makes sense that Sumo and Gun would have to expand the killer roster a bit to avoid picking the same three characters every game.

When the new characters were fully revealed after the teaser campaign, Johnny was described as “manipulating, narcissistic, but also charming and quite attractive.” A character who uses his charm to lure unsuspecting victims into the traps of the Sawyer family. By contrast, Sissy appears “sweet and pleasant” on the outside, but is actually “a toxic kid of a crazy era, a cult woman with an insatiable serial killer’s bloodlust.”

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will be released on August 18, 2023 and you will be able to play it earlier – May 25, when technical tests will begin.
