Filming for the re-adaptation of one of the most brutal fighting series begins today.
Eight years since the first preview of the movie reboot and nearly a quarter of a century since the premiere of the original film, the shooting of the new Mortal Kombat is finally starting . The screenwriter Greg Russo announced the start of work on the set a few days ago. He shared his thoughts on Twitter, posting his photo there on an empty set with a comment that he had been fighting for this film for three and a half years.
In addition to the screenwriter, the actors in the film – Lewis Tan and Mehcad Brooks – also contributed to social media.
The film will be directed by the debutant Simon McQuoid and produced by James Wan. Mortal Kombat will be filmed in South Australia. The production has already become the largest film project in the history of the region. The picture is to be released in theaters in March 2021.
