The shaman looks for a castle – review of the book “The Way of the Shaman Stage 4: Ghost Castle”

Every clan needs a headquarters

Machan not only bears the title of Shaman the Most High, but is also the leader of the clan proudly named Legends of the Barlions. Each such organization needs its base of operations. Preferably one that is impossible to get. Our hero is lucky, because the castle called Altameda may soon become his property. Only the question of getting rid of the army of Wraiths remains to be solved. Problems multiply inexorably, and Machan begins to be hunted by three of the best clans of the entire Barlion continent. As you can see, there is no need to take a moment to rest.

Another piece!

Vasily Makhanenko on the occasion of the fourth volume of the series The Way of the Shamandoes not slow down. We are still witnessing a lot of events, and the pace of the story is just right. The threads from the previous parts are continued, there are also new ones that can delight. You can also get the impression that the modes of a larger machine have started, and the consequences of its actions will be felt by the heroes in the near future. A shaman’s life changes quite a bit. Machan begins to understand that not everything can be achieved on its own. It is not easy for him, he tries to look for different solutions. There comes a point, however, when you finally need to put your trust in other people. I am only puzzled by the fact that all the most important events that affect the whole world always happen around the main character. Some more mundane tasks are missing, which would allow you to breathe and better reflect how often quests in MMORPGs look like. However, this is not a big objection, negatively affecting the reception of the book. The graphic design also deserves praise (the previous volumes also received it). On the last page, although in the version without colors, you can see what the covers of the next two parts will look like. I will wait a little longer before choosing the best one. However, it cannot be concealed that the setting  Ghost Castle looks great.

Summary

Ghost Castle is another great part of the Shaman’s Way series . Many threads have been developed, and we also get to know new aspects of the virtual world of Barlions. As in the case of its predecessors, it is hard to break away from the fourth volume. The appetite for the continuation of Machan’s adventures has been reawakened and I am already looking forward to what is yet to come.
