An American-Canadian production from 2021, based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same title. It adapts its first half. Directed by Denis Villenueve, the film won six Oscars. No wonder that a sequel to the adventures of the extraordinary Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) is in the works.
While much of the original cast returns for the sequel, there will be plenty of new faces as well. Dune 2 will be complemented by Florence Pugh ( Little Women), Christopher Walken ( Catch me if you can ), and Austin Butler ( Elvis), which was recently mentioned in an interview with Variety.
Well, I love the first movie so much. It was simply a cinematic masterpiece. So the idea of being part of that world is just incredibly exciting. And Denis is one of my favorite filmmakers and just an amazing person. He’s very nice, and I’m a fan of every actor in the movie, so I felt really honored,” said Butler
He added: “It’s really surreal. You feel a bit like a kid in your favorite movie, it’s like stepping onto the set of every movie you admired as a kid. Like going to Indiana Jones or something… Movies that really affect you as a kid, that’s how I felt
What to expect in Dune 2?
Prince Paul Atreides gains a new nickname and begins a journey, including in the spiritual realm. He wants the prophecy concerning the deliverance of his people to be fulfilled. Paul teams up with Chani and the Fremen to fight the humans who want to destroy Dune. He will also have to choose between his beloved and the fate of the world.
The premiere of the film is scheduled for November 3, 2023.
