Dangerous debut
Long ago, beyond the mountains and forests, in a mysterious mansion lived noble members of the Shadow family with live dolls serving them. Each child had to make a debut to prove his usefulness to the family. Only when she passed the test did she become a full-fledged Shadow. The exam was supervised by a not very nice Edward. Those who failed the exam (and according to the Shadow family rules, not all of them could pass it) had to face unpleasant consequences. The third and fourth volumes indeed contain a wealth of new and intriguing information. Suddenly the whole idyllic mood is broken. The volumes mentioned not only reveal who the real members of the family and the living dolls really were, but for the first time the areas around the residence, including a certain village inhabited by humans, were presented for the first time! Meanwhile, Kate started her own game,
A fascinating world
Shadows House captivates with unconventional heroes. Instead of humans, we have faceless individuals that emit large amounts of soot. On the one hand, we see a typical life in a noble residence: cleaning, manners, debut, but on the other hand, all this is just a cover, because the house itself is not ordinary. It is impossible to get out of it just like that, as the author demonstrated in the second volume!
The exam prepared by Edward is also an interesting challenge. Living dolls must make their way through the maze to save their masters. Nevertheless, it does mean having to face many fancy pitfalls! Most importantly, however, they cannot hurt the face, as it is their duty to protect the face for their master. Interestingly, under the influence of Emilico’s goodness, the heroes begin to change. The first friendships are also made, and it turns out that in fact all the characters are pawns in a larger game.
What other secrets does the Shadow’s mansion hold?
Each subsequent volume reveals new secrets of the Shadow family. Part four was particularly groundbreaking. Now I can see more or less where the story is going and I must admit that I am very intrigued. Kate will definitely have a bit of a nut to crack because she doesn’t know who to trust. Not only that, Edward keeps an eye on her from the very beginning. In addition, other members of the Shadow family have various abilities, so Kate’s chances of breaking out of the mansion are very small. I look forward to the next volumes! The author has a lot to show off and I have no doubts that he will manage to surprise me more than once.
