The screenwriter of “Doktor Who” has passed away

Terrence Dicks, longtime writer for Doctor Who, has passed away .

 

Terrence Dicks has been associated with the Doctor Who world since 1968, when he landed a job as a junior screenplay editor. A year later he was promoted to team leader. He was first recognized as a creator on The War Games mini-series , which introduced the Time Lords concept. Other famous episodes of Doctor Who written by Dicks include Robot (Tom Baker debuts as the fourth Doctor), The Brains of Morbius , Horror of Fang Rock , or State of Decay . The last time the screenwriter was on the series to celebrate its twentieth anniversary and a special episode of The Five Doctors .

After completing his work on the show, Dicks continued writing about The Doctor. His works include theater plays, audio drama and novels referring to television production. The latter he wrote pomad 60 for Target Books. After Doctor Who was first canceled in 1989, Dicks continued his work on books from the time traveler world, this time for Virgin Publishing. The author’s recent works have covered the adventures of the Tenth Doctor (played by David Tennant) and Sarah Jane Smith.

News of Terrence Dicks’ death came earlier this week, though the writer passed away last week, August 29. The creator had a wife, Elsa, and three children. At the time of his death, Dicks was 84 years old.
