In the fall, children get bored … but not all of them! In the patchwork badger and fox family, everyone has their own (good) ideas. Or in the latest volume Mr. Borsuk and Pani Lisica. But the crew! will the heroes reach an agreement?
Human characters in animal masks
Róża, Szperaczek and Borek are organizing a regatta on the river, but before the competition begins, they have to build a boat or… boats (something different for everyone?). The most difficult stage of the game is to agree on what this means of transport should look like. Each of the characters has their own concept, which – as you will notice in the comic – is not easy to implement alone. A raft, a catamaran and a kayak are being built… and every creator hopes to win. In addition, overconfidence and pride lead to family conflicts between “almost siblings,” as one family member emphasizes. From the cover of the latest volume of the series Mr. Borsuk i Pani Lisicaone of the badgers peers at us … Nearby we see other heroes of history. This is the first signal for the youngest reader – loneliness is never desirable, but there are relatives around us who will always help us.
About tolerance
Adolescent animal heroes continue to learn to be tolerant. The patchwork family consists of mum the fox Matylda, dad the badger Edmund, three badger babies – Szperaczek, Borek and Malinka – and the fox Rose. Similar age animals, mom and dad’s wards, are constantly arguing with each other, even though the reasons for these quarrels are usually trivial. Nevertheless, as we have seen in previous volumes , they usually reach partial consensus and try to keep the relationship going. The series of Brigitte Luciani and Eve Tharlet – Mr. Borsuk and Pani Lisica – is not only an attempt to face otherness, but also a lesson of tolerance with a hint of humor. The discussed volume will surely appeal to the youngest and their parents due to the intriguing story, beautiful graphics, aesthetic setting and a charming ending!
In the evaluation
The reviewed comic is dedicated to the youngest readers (it is published in the series My first comic 5+ )for independent reading and reading with parents. Indeed, the offer is recommendable! Funny adventures of animal heroes engage readers, but also teach how to behave. The nice characters will appeal to the youngest, who will surely follow the family’s adventures with care. In addition, they can observe the way in which the youngest solve conflicts, just like people do. The anthropomorphization of the badger-fox family is a very good idea, extremely helpful in situations in which parents need to learn to talk to their child about separation, divorce, and including new members into the family. It is also a lovely story about animal heroes and their struggles, showing that there are no insoluble conflicts.
