In previous volumes, Toward Your Eternity, we met many fascinating characters, and the protagonist gained invaluable skills. Will such colorful heroes also appear in the sequel?
Friend or foe?
In the previous volume, Pioran, a person very important to Niesia, died. The protagonist decided that he did not want to expose other people to the attacks of knockers, and that he did not intend to relive the suffering of the loss of a loved one, and therefore he settled on a desert island. After several decades, Hayase’s granddaughter came to him and offered to help him in the fight against knockers. However – can she be trusted? On the other hand, Niesio quickly learned that he would not be able to defeat his enemies alone. And here he came across the eccentric prince Bonchien, who is to take over the kingdom of Uralis after the death of his father. In addition, it turned out that Niesio also has a lot of opponents, including the dignitaries of the Benett church, who consider him the embodiment of the devil. There is really a lot going on in these three volumes.
Bonchien and his army
To your eternity they are primarily interesting heroes. There have been quite a few of them in previous volumes. However, in the latest volumes it is worth mentioning only two new characters, Bonchien and Kahaku, another descendant of Hayase. Bon is an intriguing hero, not only because of his ability (he sees the dead), but perhaps mainly because of his temperament. Appearance, gestures, behavior towards Niesia and his own subordinates – all this makes him an ambiguous character and one of the best in the entire series. Unfortunately, after the change that took place in it in the ninth volume, it lost much of its charm. Moreover, it is a pity that his family has not been exposed even more. On the other hand, Kahaku is also a non-obvious hero, because of his lineage it is impossible to fully believe in the purity of his intentions,
More clashes with knockers
The main character has changed significantly over the course of these three volumes. Unfortunately, its development is not as spectacular as before. The subsequent forms that it gains do not arouse any greater emotions. Although the plot and new plots brought many intriguing novelties, for example, they shed more light on the main antagonists of the series, I have a feeling that I miss something here, especially more drama during the clashes with knockers. Unfortunately, at some point these skirmishes became just more dynamic conflicts, which basically ceased to surprise.
The stunning beauty of the Uralis kingdom
The release and graphic design keep the level of the previous volumes. Yoshitoki Oima portrayed Bon especially well, all his gestures and unusual behavior. Of course, and this time I came across two minor typos.
Is it worth joining Niesie and his companions on a further journey?
After six good volumes, a lot has changed. After all, the protagonist doesn’t have to learn the basic activities anymore. For the first time in the series, you can see greater continuity, before that you had the impression of communing with episodes where Niesio was the main connecting element. It is different now – the plot is moving towards its climax, which is the great battle that was announced in volume nine. No wonder then that I am looking forward to the sequel. While the main character has lost some of his charm, there aren’t many intriguing new characters (except for Bon, of course), but it’s still an original, compelling story.
