The release date of “Wonder Woman 1984” is finally set

The pandemic thwarted many filmmakers’ plans. Lots of prime ministers changed their dates several times. Wonder Woman 1984 is no exception. Will the Christmas premiere take place?

The film was scheduled to hit theaters on December 13, and then moved to an earlier date on November 1, 2019, then scheduled for June 2020, again in August … Warner Bros. Studio. no longer intends to postpone the premiere for a simple reason. Afraid that the title will “get old”. More and more time has passed since the premiere of Wonder Woman  in 2017. Shooting ended in 2018, and yet technology is moving forward.

Management has just announced that from December 25, it will be available to watch the production on HBO Max and in theaters (if they are open). In countries without HBO Max service, the film will hit theaters on December 16. Director Patty Jenkins says on Twitter:

The time has come. At some point you must choose to share the love and joy you have. And put it above everything else. We love our movie as much as our fans, so we hope our movie will bring some joy and respite to all of you during this festive season. Watch in cinemas where it is safe and appreciate the great work that the cinemas have done to make this possible. Or you can take advantage of secure access to your movie at home on HBO Max. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did while making it.

The first film in the series brought over $ 800 million in profit. If the world situation were normal, the sequel would probably earn even more, maybe a billion. But:

They intend to earn less money for the greater good of building HBO Max. They put the company’s long-term future over profits –

according to Rich Greenfield, media analyst at LightShed Partners. So far, 70% of HBO’s customers have not signed up to Max, even though it is offered at no extra cost.

The film features Gal Gadot (Diana Prince / Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Kristen Wiig (Barbara Ann Minerva / Cheetah) and Pedro Pascal (Maxwell Lord).

Let’s hope that the premiere will take place and that the cinemas will finally be opened. Are you looking forward to it?
