As previously revealed, the film will take Paddington to Peru, his birthplace, and will be titled Paddington in Peru. At the moment, we don’t know much about the new part. The news suggests that Ben Wishaw has not seen the script, and production may not be close to starting. The fans got scared, although of course it’s not like this part won’t be created without Wishaw voicing the teddy bear.
StudioCanal will finance the new installment – as will the first two, according to a message he gave to Deadline . It will be directed by Dougal Wilson, who makes his feature film debut in Paddington in Peru after years of working in commercials and music videos.
We’ve long been huge admirers of Dougal’s work, his stunning visual creativity, storytelling, heart, emotion and humor. We are very excited that Dougal will direct the third Paddington film. We look forward to Paddington’s return to Peru and his next adventure on the big screen.
StudioCanal CEO Anna Marsh and EVP Global Production Ron Halpern wrote in a statement
After ten years of working on Paddington’s films, I feel responsible for this little bear, and I’m delighted that Dougal will be there holding his paw as he embarks on his third big screen adventure. Dougal’s work is always amazing: funny, beautiful, sincere, imaginative and utterly original. Aunt Lucy once asked us to “Take care of this bear.” I know Dougal will do great.
