When the second season of The Witcher had his premiere Netflix announced that there would be more. Now, it’s official! Production of the continuation has finally started.
Yesterday morning on Twitter , Netflix published an official statement in which it declares that shooting for the third season of the series about the monster killer has started. They also added a photo from a movie set with the three most important production actors: Henry Cavill (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Freya Allan (Ciri).
Netflix has also revealed some secrets about the plot of the new season:
When the monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent try to capture Ciri, Geralt hides her, determined to protect his newly reconciled family from those who try to destroy her. When Ciri is trained in magic, Yennefer gathers them to the safe and secure Arethusa, where she hopes to learn more about the girl’s magical, untapped abilities. However, they discover that they have landed on a battlefield of political corruption, black magic and betrayal. They have to fight, or put it all at risk, or risk losing themselves forever.
We do not know the exact release date of the new season of The Witcher yet, but we suspect that it should not be expected until 2023.
