The House of the Dragon season 1 finale was watched by 9.3 million people across all platforms on Sunday night, which is even more impressive given the fierce competition from Sunday Night Football and the MLB playoffs. This was the highest viewership on HBO since Game of Thrones ended in 2019. Now fans can start to look forward to the second season.
The production shared a behind-the-scenes photo of the Iron Throne to announce the start of filming for the second season. Series H is filmed at Leavesden Studios in the UK and based on the book Fire and Blood by George R. R. Martin. House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen.
The dragonflight has returned. We are thrilled to be able to shoot again with members of our recording family, as well as new talent on both sides of the camera. All of your favorite heroes will soon be plotting at the council tables, marching with their armies and riding dragons into battle. We can’t wait to share what we have prepared.
