Disney +, The Donner Company and Amblin Entertainment have started work on a new production of Goonies . It will not be a sequel, but a remake in which the creators will try to capture frame by frame what Richard Donner portrayed on the screen in the original 1985 film.
The producer of the Goonies remake , Gail Berman, gave an interview for Variety , in which he shared new information about the production:
This is a collaboration between me, Amblin, and Lauren Shuler Donner. When I was in Paramount, there were these young boys doing a frame-by-frame remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark. […] I always thought it was a great idea and I always wondered in my head – how to turn such an idea into a TV series?
When Warner Bros. granted the production rights to Berman and the crew, they could finally get started. Sarah Watson is working on the script for the remake that will be available on Disney +. The release date has not been disclosed yet.
