Unfortunately, unfortunately. It looks like the expected premieres of “Shazam!: Fury of the Gods”, “Black Adam”, “The Flash” and “The Batman” are being postponed again. Nothing but sit back and cry.
Covid-19 thwarted the plans of producers and cinemas again, and led fans to sadness and despair. In the USA and practically all over the world, stricter restrictions are imposed on the number of viewers who can watch a movie simultaneously. That is why many mega-productions, film certainty, which would surely attract a lot of fans to the cinemas – will be shelved for now, waiting for better times. This is what happens with productions from the DC Extended Universe world. That’s why the Cineworld cinema chain is temporarily closing its doors, as is Regal Cinemas.
We just found out that the premiere of the sequel Shazam!: Fury of the Gods is postponed to 2023. It’s such a distant date that we can forget that such a movie is even being made. Producers must also take into account that maturation cannot be stopped, and the young heroes will look different in three years from now. The first S hazam was released in 2019 and was a hit. It was about a boy named Billy who unexpectedly becomes something like Superman when he says the magic word. Superheroism shown with a grain of salt and great comedy scenes attracted many viewers to the cinemas.
Black Adam movie, with Dwayn Johnson in the lead role, we will also not see in theaters just before Christmas 2021 as it was planned. The entire next year is already “packed” with premieres that have been postponed from this year and there is probably nowhere to “squeeze in” it. So we can expect the release to be postponed to 2022, if not later. In case you don’t know what’s going on, here’s a quick synopsis. Black Adam, a character created in 1945, was first called Teth-Adam and was a slave. Adam was given mighty powers from a sorcerer named Shazam (just like Billy in the movie mentioned in the paragraph above). The apprentice has outgrown the master and rebelled against him. Then a lot happens, the main character is banished, returns, dies, comes to life, kills, destroys, fights. He is a character with a rich past and superpowers. He can fly, he can throw lightning, he is super fast, super intelligent, super strong, and let’s add – super evil. Unfortunately, there is no power to destroy viruses, unfortunately.
The release date for The Flash was originally planned for 2018. As a result of various turbulences, postponed many times, it finally had the date in June 2022. However, another superhero moving at extraordinary speed will need more time to reach us. Hmm… is it possible a constant decline in superpowers? This time, the producers designated November 4, 2022 as THIS day. Will it happen, time will tell.
And finally, the icing on the cake, one of DC’s most anticipated movies – Batman. Subsequent, ever later dates fell on our poor heads like big bats. The film features only the stars: dark Robert Pattinson in the title role, Paul Dano as the Riddler, interesting Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as the Penguin (I wonder how it will turn out?), John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, and the reliable Andy Serkis as Alfred. Director Matt Reeves described his film as an “experiment” and added that the film shows Bruce Wayne as he learns to be Batman. Sounds interesting, but for now we have to get along with the taste and trailers. Until at least March 2022.
What do you think about the next postponements of the premiere dates? Which movie are you most excited about? Let me know in the comments.
