The Powerpuff Girls live-action series has been officially cancelled. At least that’s what TVLine claims, according to which Warner Bros. is no longer developing the production, and the script has been thrown into the trash.
A new version of the famous animated series The Powerpuff Girls , broadcast on Cartoon Network, was to be developed by Warner Bros. TV. The title was already in quite an advanced stage of development. The actresses who were to play the main roles have already been selected. It was supposed to be Chloe Bennet as Brawl, Dove Cameron as Bajka and Yana Perrault as Brawurka. Donald Faison was supposed to play Professor Atomus. The story was supposed to show us superheroes as twenty-year-old women who no longer want to save the world and believe that they have lost their childhood to fight crime. However, humanity needs them again and the team must get back to work. It is even known that the shooting has already started, and the first photos from the set have been circulating on the Internet. It was even said that the entire pilot episode was filmed!
Warner Bros. however, resigned from the series, which was supposed to go to The CW, as did Justice U and Zorro . However, this studio also eventually rejected the project, which, according to the latest information, went to the trash.
The reason we did the pilot was to see if the design was flawed. And this one was wrong. Of course, we believed in the cast and the writers, but in our opinion, the first episode didn’t work. We wanted to give him another chance, to move forward somehow, but it all came out too campy. We did some tests and nothing came of it. Ultimately, we decided to take a step back, go back to the drawing board, and start all over again. Maybe then it will work.
– explained the former president of The CW Mark Pedowitz
So it looks like we won’t see the live-action version of the Powerpuff Girls for a while , but the title has not been completely deleted by the creators and publishers.
