The Potter gadgets of the Last Tavern

20 years ago, the movie “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” hit theaters. Our editors decided to celebrate this event and show off their gadgets related to this magical universe!

Every time I enter the store with various gadgets, books, LEGO bricks or games, I pay attention to things related to specific universes. One of them is, of course, the world created by JK Rowling. I would need a large wardrobe to fit everything – pillows, bedding, blankets, clothes, shoes, dishes, figurines, LEGO sets, jewelry and … much more.

There are a few things I especially like. Among them is the pillow I fell in love with when I accidentally passed the window of a gadget shop in a Viennese shopping center. I went shopping in Austria for my 30th birthday and the chocolate frog was one of the lovelier gifts I bought for myself. However, from a weekend trip to a studio near London, where films about Harry Potter were shot, I brought four mugs in the colors of the Hogwarts houses. I do not let anyone use them – they are supposed to stand and look nice. And my two loves – books and games. Of course I have all the young wizarding stories, but I also found an unofficial cookbook that I bought so I could make my own cream beer. And when it comes to board games, I counted ten on the HP license, but I have a few more in mind, so the collection will keep growing. –Katarzyna Satława

It started with the books that my sister printed for me and due to the fact that it was bad with the money, I will not brag about these copies, because it’s a bit of a shame … Only in the further future, as you can see in the picture, I bought the last two parts with my own hard earned money. Part 7 is literally a freshly printed copy at the time of publication of the book. Immediately the same day I went to buy it. I got crazy about Harry Potter and asked for everything about him. Many things have not stood the test of time, but as you can see in the photo, there are some gems here. I have already mentioned the book.
In the background you can see the open movie box on DVD versions 2. They were the premium version and included additional content on the description of wizarding stories, Hogwarts, houses, cut scenes. Some mini-games like: “Which house will the Sorting Hat assign you to?” Or “Do you think you know the world of Harry well” of Potter? ” In the photo on the right there are also films with two discs, and just like in the previous one, there was additional content here, only that it was focused on the story and things contained in a given part. From 5 parts, poverty versions only with the film began to be sold. So poorly …
A cup and a bowl and a plate… As you can see, the plate did not survive. However, the other two things are 14 years old. Honestly, I am amazed until now that despite the constant use, the products look perfect, and the drawings and images do not clash under the influence of washing dishes, or drinking or food products. In the past, good quality things were done! – Szymon Włodarczyk

Lego coat of arms of Hogwarts. This is probably the best set that has ever been created and is intended for … adult LEGO users. From this set we can make various combinations, representing the coats of arms of the four houses of Hogwarts. And if we buy four such sets, we will get the coat of arms of the entire school. An interesting set that will keep you entertained for a long time. – Bartosz Stuła

Perhaps some of the readers know me for the fact that I am one of the editors of The Last Tavern, who especially appreciate “Harry Potter” and write about it most often. Few of them, however, know that my love for the JK Rowling series is not limited only to talking and writing about it. As someone with a collector’s soul, I also collect Harry-related stuff.

As you can see in the attached pictures, my collection includes replicas from movies about a teenage wizard. However, these are not ordinary copies – they are original, licensed replicas, quite faithful to the screen prototypes. This collection consists of three wands – Harry, Voldemort and Dumbledore – as well as all “object” Horcruxes of the Dark Lord, such as Tom Riddle’s Journal, Marvol Gaunt’s Ring, Salazar Slytherin’s Medallion, Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup and Rowena’s Diadem Ravenclaw. It is worth mentioning that among the listed artifacts there are also two of the legendary Deathly Hallows. Dumbledore’s wand is simply a Black Wand, and the Ring contains the Resurrection Stone, which adds even more variety to the collection. I would like to add that I got all the items thanks to the noblecollection.com website (if I am well aware,

Finally, I should also mention the souvenirs from the Krakow store “Dziórawy Kocioł”, which I received some time ago as a Christmas gift from my sister, and the Deathly Hallows necklace, modeled on the one that Xenophilius Lovegood (Luna’s father) wore in the adaptation of Harry’s adventures. , acquired at the Pyrkon in Poznań in 2018.

Maybe the photo from the platform is not exactly a gadget, but if we take into account that it is a physical thing – it will work for me. The best memory from 2013 was definitely my visit to platform 9 3/4 in London. I had a scarf from one of the houses (unfortunately not mine), a pram and… of course I tried to get through the wall. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it, so as you can see in the second photo, I decided to take a drastic step and got one of the insignia. They refused to let me on the train and school – then they will have to face my intelligence and cunning! Ravenclaws prevail! – Jarosław Trzpis

The universe created by JK Rowling is certainly one of my favorites. I remember how I was looking forward to the next Potter adventures and I read more books with a flushed face. I also tried to attend film premieres almost on the day of the premiere, and I also visited cinemas during the reruns. However, somehow I never collected gadgets from this magical world. I can’t say I’m not a gadget fancy, but I care more about Tolkien-related items, Marvel comics, World of Warcraft or Dungeons and Dragons figures . Therefore, in my collection there are actually only books belonging to the series and a few additional ones, such as Bard Beedle’s Tales. You can say a standard that every fan has. However, I can boast of a special wand. It does not belong to any collections, it does not come from a licensed store, it is not a replica of any of those owned by the heroes. My wife made it for me. She found the idea on the Internet, took some time and here is my own magic artifact. It even has a special power – you can write with it! For me, it is one of the best gadgets I have. – Piotr Markiewicz

Although there will probably be some patches that could be glued to me, “gadżeciarz” is unlikely to be one of them. As a result, I do not have many accessories related to the young wizard, even though I am a fan of the series since I was a kid. However, we managed to find something!

Whoever has watched the films knows that the easiest way to distinguish Hogwarts students is by the characteristic scarves in the colors of the coats of arms of individual houses. Most fans, for one reason or another, identify with a specific house and its characters or features, so such a scarf will be a tasty morsel for them. It is no different with me – a few years ago the Pottermore “only real and official” personality test (now renamed Wizarding World) decided that the Ravenclaw would be the right place for me. I also got such a scarf (a licensed film replica) shortly afterwards as a Christmas gift from my then partner and in the winter season I still wear it to this day – after all, belonging to the house of intelligent and creative people is something that appeals to me!

And since the scarf warms me from the outside, why not warm up with something from the inside? For example, hot tea drunk from a patronus cup? Why not! As you can see, my gadgets are rather functional and it is not accidental. I don’t like things that are simply dusty on the shelf and their presence hardly penetrates into my consciousness. Meanwhile, the mug accompanies me every day – especially now, in the era of home office – when I drink various liquids from it during work. The dish reacts to heat, so when filled with tea or coffee, it reveals a scene from the Prisoner of Azkaban , in which Harry conjures up a full-fledged patronus for the first time. And since work sometimes works like a dementor on me, the presence of a silver deer on my desk is greatly appreciated!

What is the book doing here (apart from the background of course)? If you look closely, you will see a round stamp on the front page. It reads: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , Premiere, January 25/26, 2008, midnight. They were nailed in Empik during the premiere thirteen years ago, when I was a middle school student impatiently waiting for the finale of the series, who managed to persuade my mother to take him with a friend and classmate to Warsaw for the last volume of Harry Potter on a winter night . Those were the days! – Krzysztof Dzieniszewski
