On the official website of the manufacturer, there is an entry informing about planned updates, fixes and free DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. Marcin Iwiński, co-founder of CD Projekt, explains where the problems with the quality of the game on consoles came from – this resulted in the complexity of the game itself and the constant need to improve the data streaming system for older devices. The vice president of the board also takes responsibility for the unsuccessful start on himself and the entire development team. However, the main reason for publishing the post was to present the work done so far to improve Cyberpunk and a sneak peek of what to expect over time.
First things first, the rest can wait
The released hotfixes are just the beginning. The goal is to fix game bugs and freezes that are present on the platforms. The next update will be available in 10 days, and the next, more significant one, in a few weeks. Only later is the release of free DLCs, as the manufacturer wants to focus on more important repairs first. More detailed information can be expected in the coming months.
For gamers awaiting a revised version for the next-gen console in backwards compatibility mode, this entry has certainly proved disappointing. The free update will be released in 2021, but only in the second half of the year, and you have to wait for the next news.
It is worth remembering that everything may change as the situation develops. The only solution is to regularly check published messages and … wait.
What was missing here?
With most of the work being focused on the most essential repairs, it’s only natural that any extra content will be delayed. The aforementioned first free DLC was to be available shortly after the premiere. However, they have been postponed from the beginning of this year to later months. The timeline of 2021 also lacks information about the game’s expansions. There is no mention of multiplayer, no mention of premium add-ons or the ability to play by two players in single mode. This does not mean, however, that these plans have been abandoned. However, it will be necessary to wait until the situation is so good that the team responsible for Cyberpunk 2077 will be able to devote time and attention to those elements of the game that are not necessary for its proper functioning.
What about buying from PlayStation Store?
The unsuccessful premiere caused many stores to withdraw from Cyberpunk’s online sales and offered a refund to disappointed players. To the surprise of many people, Sony decided to take such a step in December last year, followed by other companies. It did not mean that you could not buy the game at all, but only a physical copy of it. However, CD Projekt Red did not give up and is trying to bring the product back for sale online. There are no details yet that would reveal the approximate date of Cyberpunk 2077’s return to PlayStation Store, but negotiations are underway. Work on improving the game probably works in favor of the producer, and the released updates will not hurt. So it remains to wait and hope for success.
Although Cyberpunk has collected a lot of negative opinions so far, anything is still possible. It will not be a short and easy process, however, successive updates may result in opinions that are more favorable to the manufacturer.
