A few months ago, I had the honor of learning about the origins of one of the greatest Super Villains of modern pop culture. I really liked the next installment of the adventures of tiny, yellow creatures – do I consider the return to this title successful? Once again, I want to emphasize how much the creators impressed me with the plot of the animation, taking the viewer to Gru’s childhood. In most of these productions, if we go back to the beginning of a hero’s story, we don’t meet a twelve-year-old boy who wants nothing more than to be the greatest villain in the world. That’s the case here. The abstract plot is perfectly matched by a deep moral about acceptance, smuggled into the production by the screenwriters. I still think it strikes a very good balance with the playful overtones of the titles in the series. It is also worth noting that the minions do not dominate here – it is Gru’s story that is in the center of attention, and the yellow creatures only enrich the already interesting adventure.

It’s good to see the minions again
I also haven’t changed my mind about the aesthetics of the animations and the designs of the characters and places. Gru’s entry on the second approach pleases the eye and ears as much as the first time – graphically it looks adorable, while maintaining the characteristic style of the titles from the series. The good impression is reinforced by the music, which in my opinion is perfectly matched to the film. To be honest, from this angle, watching the new Minions at home impressed me even more than the last time I saw it in the cinema.
Do the minions look cool on DVD ? Of course. The DVD edition on the shelf looks aesthetically pleasing, and inside the box we find a nice disc. I will mention one more advantage of this version: there are two additional mini-movies on it, which can be a great motivation to buy it. Certainly younger viewers will be interested in this content.

It’s worth going back to the childhood years of Gru
Coming back to this position, thanks to the DVD release, I already knew that I would be satisfied. I was not wrong. The first impression I got from the cinema, after which I wrote a very favorable review, turned out to be permanent. I still highly recommend this animation and as the end of the year is slowly approaching, I can say with full responsibility that this is one of the best titles for children this year. What’s more, I got very close with Gru during these two screenings and I can’t wait for all the news related to this hero.
