For me, the hard part was that I’m so in love with this world that I wanted to include all the background, all the story, and just all the stuff in the book, and they were like, “You can’t do that.” I’m guessing something in the licensing agreement means you can only use the stuff they’ve agreed to and that’s very specific. I smuggled some stuff in there, but I had to really cut down on the details. I smuggled in some Chakobs dialogue. I smuggled in references to things that aren’t in the movie. I wanted to give readers who are fans of the book something like that.
