The next Big Bang Theory spin-off has been announced!

It was officially announced that HBO Max and Discovery+ are merging to form the Max platform , and Warner Bros. Discovery also shared some news about some upcoming series, including a new The Big Bang Theory spin-off.

The original sitcom ran for 12 seasons on CBS, and its spin-off prequel, Young Sheldon  , is currently in its sixth season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, little is known about the new series, but it will be created by The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre and will take place in the same universe as the original production.

I couldn’t make a sequel without the whole team – because they’re the reason we’ve been successful. Taking it apart and putting it back together as a fraction of what it was just never felt right to me. I’ve seen other programs try and fail to take a character and continue. Or is that the only thing I could come up with?

Lorre previously told THR

According to the report, Max will debut with the same price as HBO Max . It is expected to cost $16 ad-free, while the third tier for $20 offers better video quality and other additional features.

We’re excited to take all Discovery content and combine it with HBO Max content on a much better platform. The key to success is that as a storytelling company, we have this diversity… We have the ability to choose from all these different productions to really build what can be most important to us – which is the success and profitable streaming business. HBO Max is a product that is available worldwide and has a real impact on the way people consume content. We believe we have the best content menu, the best portfolio and the best quality.
