Todd McFarlane is known to fantasy fans. It’s a human orchestra – artist, writer, toy maker, and of course the co-founder of Image Comics. In 2019, he won the Guinness World Record for the longest running superhero comic book series.
The goal has always been “Can I act until I die?” And then hopefully the main focus will be “Will people still want this character after I take my last breath?” This is the goal. This is a victory. They’ll say, “Ah, sad, Todd is gone. When is Spawn coming out? “
The artist skillfully doses the tension, from time to time publishing new information about his flagship project, which has been planned for at least 2017.
We know they are likely to be headed by Jamie Foxx in the title role and Jeremy Renner as Detective Twitch Williams (how does he find time when he’s shooting Hawkeye?). Foxx really wanted to play in this project. In the middle of the year he described the following in interviews:
I surprised Todd McFarlane. I said, ‘Dude, I know you will make this movie one day and I hope you will remember me.
As you can see, the creator remembered. For now, however, he does not want to reveal the names of other actors, he only hints that they are well known to fans.
The artist thought out his brand very well. Ever since he signed with Marvel in 1984 and became one of the top cartoonists there, he’s still going uphill. In 1992 he invented Spawn , which turned out to be a great success (almost 2 million copies sold). In 1994 he opened a toy manufacturing company. In 1997, a film with his flagship character was released, which had very high viewership results. It was directed by Mark AZ Dippé and played the title role by Michael Jai White.
This time, the artist wants to not only write, but also direct the picture. He said it would definitely be an adult-only movie in which he said
… Spawn will be a nice bastard.
McFarlane is still making a lot of money from his characters. Fans are eager to buy gadgets, games and toys with his logo. So he won’t have to save on the effects, and thanks to that we will get, hopefully, a unique piece.
