The new “Scream” is finished!

The upcoming fifth screening of the slasher with a masked ghost-faced killer has officially been completed, six months ahead of schedule.

The information comes from directors of the new production Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinella-Olpin. The news spread quickly on social media. As they wrote: “The Scream (2022) is complete!”

In addition, Bettinelli-Olpin wrote on Instagram:

We are so excited that you will all see it soon. #ForWes

His post featured an opening sequence with the title of a new movie that looks a lot like the original 1996 movie. He also ended his signature with a tribute to franchise director Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015.

Craven has directed all four films to date for the series’ films. A new film by Melissa Barrera will “honor” this great director.

Matt and Tyler bring their freshness to it, but we pay our respects to Wes. I think it will make the fans happy, but also attract new audiences to the movies, which is very exciting for me.

Barrera told Variety weekly

Melissa Barrera is part of the new cast of the film, which also includes Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mikey Madison and Jack Quaid. Many familiar faces will also appear in the film, including Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, David Arquette as Dewey Riley and Marley Shelton as Deputy Judy Hicks.

The New  Scream, which does not contain a “5” in the title, will premiere on January 14, 2022.
