The Coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on the movie industry. Over the past few months, we’ve seen a lot of productions stop, cast changes, and even some projects dropped out altogether. Although the situation is still not quite stable, the makers of more and more movies and series decide to resume photos. Producers of the new Lord of the Ringswork on a new version of the trilogy again. The production team works in New Zealand, which is currently one of the safer places in terms of the number of COVID-19 patients. For this purpose, the project managed to obtain a special permit from the government to cross the country border. The familiar scenery is also a nice touch for fans who have gotten used to the beautiful views of New Zealand from the original trilogy.
When work on the series was discontinued, production of the 2nd episode was completed. Fortunately, this break was in line with the plans of the creators, who at that time dealt with the script for the second season. The series is created in cooperation with two producers: JD Payne Patrick McKay, and in the cast we will be able to see actors such as Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Bonladi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawie, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman, and Maxim Baldry.
The premiere of the series is to take place in 2021 on the Amazon Prime Video platform. It is not known when exactly.
