The announcement took place on Pokemon World Day, February 27th. The event was accompanied by the premiere of the first trailer. We can see a new region in which the action will take place and the first creatures that players will meet on their way.
In a special press release, The Pokemon Company gave some details about the games. The game will be set in a fully open world. Players will be able to move between them with complete freedom and without clear boundaries. At the same time, you will be able to find freely moving Pokémon everywhere (in cities and beyond).
Although we do not yet know the official name of the new region in which the action will take place, several things can be deduced from the published material. Looking mainly at architecture, it can be safely assumed that the main inspiration for the creators was the Iberian Peninsula. This marks the third visit to Europe (in Sword and Shield we traveled across islands inspired by Great Britain, and in X and Y we visited a region inspired by France).
Three new starting Pokémon were also presented. By default, for series, they will represent the fire, grass and water types. The first is the Fuecoco crocodile, the second is the Sprigatito cat, and the third is the Quaxly duck.
Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are to debut later this year.
